Tabcorp has chosen OpenBet to supply its flagship brand, Tab, with advanced betting and trading systems. These systems include a fixed-odds betting platform and trading system that will be used as part of Tab’s content portfolio.
With a support team working closely with Tab, OpenBet’s technology and services aim to bring improved flexibility, scalability and faster product launches to Tab users. Tabcorp anticipates enhanced operational efficiency and simpler processes through OpenBet’s solutions.
Cathryn Lai, OpenBet’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting their commitment to providing tailored products and services to Tab. She believes this collaboration will elevate Tabcorp’s sportsbook offering, providing Tab’s customers with an “unparalleled” experience.
David Beirne, Tabcorp’s General Manager of Trading, shared similar views, emphasising that the partnership with OpenBet will aim to elevate Tabcorp’s trading capabilities. This move aligns with Tabcorp’s plans to modernise and enhance the sports betting user journey, both digitally and in retail outlets.
The partnership follows a particularly rocky period for the Australian brand, who last month saw the departure of CEO Adam Rytenskild following accusations of offensive and inappropriate language in the workplace.
The operator also reported a net loss of AU$636.8m (US$414m) for H1, with group revenue down 5%. This was despite several tech innovations introduced by the operator in past months, including the introduction of cashless operations at its betting terminals as ordered by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC).
