Rhode Island sports betting to launch this month

rhodeislandflag

Legalised sports betting was approved by the state legislature earlier this year. Governor Gina Raimondo included legal sports betting revenue in her budget and legislators voted overwhelmingly in favour.

Sports betting in the state will be quite limited initially, but a hotel and casino is expected to follow in due course.

A slight delay has occurred due to “complex negotiation,” where originally Twin River expected to go live at the beginning of October.

The Department of Revenue is expecting state revenue from sports betting to be around $23.5m in the first fiscal year, ending 30 June 2019.
