NBA to use Premier League as leading example for gambling policies

NBA5

Tatum announced the NBA has already started to make moves in getting  people up to speed on opportunities which may arise, alongside the threats of sports betting.

NBA’s gaming rules prohibit betting, match-fixing or tipping from players, which also includes encouraging others to place bets or use improper influence or manipulation.

Extra resources will be made available to prevent any of these listed.

Tatum said: “We are trying to educate our fans. We’re educating our players and our teams. We’re taking a little bit of a cautious approach here but generally, we think it’s a good thing for sports betting to be regulated, to be legalised, so there is better information being captured.”

The English Premier League has been able to find a balance between revenue and responsibility, according to Tatum.

Tatum added: “That really helped inform some of our thoughts on how sports betting could work in the US. We’re seeing a large shift now and a change in the landscape of sports betting in the US.”
