MGM China says both its integrated resorts, MGM Macau and MGM Cotai, have committed to Well at scale, pursuing the certifications under the Well system and becoming the first of its sector in Macau to embrace the international standard.
This was shortly after MGM Cotai earned its three-star certification in both Green Building Design and Operation Labels from the China Green Building and Energy Saving (Macau) Association.
The International Well Building Institute (IWBI) developed the Well system “outlines key building-level interventions and organisational strategies in 10 categories: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind, and Community.”
The Well Building Standard has been in use by companies under the Fortune and Global 500 to “ensure buildings promote health and wellbeing.”
MGM China’s SVP of Human Resources and Sustainability Keith Lei said: “The people-centric Well ecosystem aligns perfectly with MGM’s sustainability goals. Through implementing this international standard, MGM aims to create an ideal environment for guests and team members, thus further promoting their health and well-being, while also setting a new benchmark for the green and healthy buildings in the Greater Bay Area.”
Earlier, MGM China organised a responsible gaming training course, in cooperation with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and the Macau Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre; this is aimed at people outside the gaming industry to prevent and control gambling disorder plus encouraging people with gaming troubles to ask for help.
