A five-a-side football tournament organised by Merkur Casino has raised over £12,000 ($15,300) for the Merkur Initiative. This initiative supports various charities and good causes across the UK.

The event took place on Saturday 8 June at Tattenhoe Sports Pavilion and saw staff from sister company Regal Gaming Technologies lifting the men’s trophy, while the Foleshill Women’s team (representing the Midlands area) claimed the women’s trophy.

Both finals were competitive and saw matches go into extra time, with the women’s final ultimately being decided by penalties.

Regarding the event, Mark Schertle, Merkur Casino UK COO, stated: “It might not quite have been on the scale of the forthcoming Euros, but it was great to see so many of our business partners and employees come together for a fantastic afternoon of friendly football in aid of charity.

“We never anticipated raising anywhere near £12,000 – and our thanks go to everyone for their fantastic fundraising efforts and sheer generosity.”

In related news, Merkur Gaming recently inked a new partnership deal with Reel Games in the Caribbean.

The agreement saw Merkur Gaming and Reel Games collaborating to install more than 20 multigamers at the Jade Casino in Trinidad & Tobago.

Tomás Mieles, Sales Coordinator of Latin America at Merkur Gaming, commented: “With Reel Games as a strong and reliable partner by our side, we are able to further expand and strengthen our business activities in the Caribbean with a focus on the future.”
