FDJ completes acquisition of ZEturf Group

ZEturf ranks as the second-largest online horserace betting operator in France, capturing a market share of approximately 20%. With this acquisition, FDJ Group now encompasses sports betting, horserace betting and poker, with a consolidated market share exceeding 10%.

FDJ Group plans to implement a new organisational structure to align with its commitments to the French Competition Authority.

Stéphane Pallez, Chairwoman and CEO of FDJ, expressed her thoughts on this strategic move, saying: “The acquisition of ZEturf marks a new chapter for La Française des Jeux and strengthens our position in the French market for online games open to competition.

“Following the launch of our poker business, our entry into the world of online horserace betting rounds out our diversified online range and bolsters FDJ Group’s growth prospects while remaining aligned with our responsible gaming model.”

FDJ’s revenue increased 5% for Q1 2023, reaching €662m. Earlier this year, FDJ entered into a cross-licensing agreement with International Game Technology (IGT). Additionally, the acquisition of Premier Lotteries Ireland expanded FDJ’s presence beyond France.

The gaming brand, Betsson, also entered the French market in partnership with Sportradar in 2023. The French regulated gambling market saw a 4% increase in the first half of 2023, with total gross gaming revenue reaching €5.35bn.
