BetMGM UK clarifies betting terms following Cheltenham Festival debut

In response to recent confusion (and social media criticism) surrounding a bet placed during the Cheltenham Festival, BetMGM UK issued a tweet clarifying the terms offered for the 14:50pm race on 12 March 2024.

Contrary to reports, the operator confirmed that each way bets were available on five horses, not six, as initially suggested.

Despite an error by one of its agents, BetMGM UK stated that all bets were settled correctly based on the terms selected before the race.

The clarification from BetMGM UK arrives after technical difficulties encountered during the company’s debut at the Cheltenham Festival. Despite garnering attention for its offers and marketing campaigns, users reported issues accessing the site and delays in transactions.

Complaints flooded social media platforms, prompting assurances from BetMGM UK that all bets, deposits and withdrawals would be honoured, albeit with potential delays.

Since its launch in the UK in August 2023, BetMGM UK has sought to establish itself in the British betting market. Backed by MGM Resorts, the company has formed partnerships with industry players like LeoVegas and has engaged high-profile ambassadors like Chris Rock.

However, LeoVegas CCO Chris Welch (LeoVegas operates BetMGM UK), has recently been banging the drum for the brand. Despite the teething issues it has faced, bettors across the UK have still been downloading its app en masse.
