After two spells with Orlando City, English coach Adrian Heath took over at new MLS franchise Minnesota United FC in their 2017 expansion season. The Loons soon established themselves as a regular fixture in the MLS landscape and have qualified for the playoffs in the past four campaigns.

This season, the side from Saint Paul have struggled and defeat this midweek against against LAFC sees the Loons without a win in their past seven outings and with just two regular season games left in the Western Conference, Minnesota United sit in 12th place and are three points off a wild card place that would keep the season alive.

In a brief communique, Minnesota paid tribute to the 62-year-old from Newcastle-Under-Lyme stating: “We are grateful to Adrian for his dedication to our club and for all that we have accomplished over the last seven seasons. This was a difficult decision, but we believe that the time is right to move in a new direction.”
