AP McCoy 12/1 to win his final Crabbie’s Grand National

AP McCoy 12/1 to win his final Crabbie’s Grand National

Aintree specials released ahead of legendary jockey’s final bow in the National

AP McCoy is now 12/1 with us to sign off his career by winning a second Crabbie’s Grand National at Aintree in April.

The legendary jockey, who is retiring at the end of the season, will be able to choose from a strong selection of horses as the retained rider to owner JP McManus and it’s his Shutthefrontdoor who is our 10/1 favourite for the world’s most famous race.

Last year’s winner Pineau De Re is 28/1 to become the first horse since Red Rum to triumph in successive Nationals while 2014 runner-up Balthazar King is 20/1 to go one better.

McCoy is 3/1 to finish in the first four home, 4/7 to complete the course and 25/1 to see his race ended at the first fence.

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls is 4/1 to train the winner with Jonjo O’Neill 11/2, Willie Mullins 8/1 and Philip Hobbs 16/1.

The last three winners have been aged 11 but it’s a 7/1 shot that a horse aged 11 or older is victorious this time around. Aged nine or 10 is the evens favourite with an eight-year-old or younger priced at 11/10.

Ireland haven’t won any of the last seven renewals and are 13/8 to land the marathon contest. It’s 4/9 they return home empty handed.
